Position Title: Executive Chef 

Position Type: Full-time, salaried

Location: Omaha, NE in the heart of Benson 

 

SET The Bar has a rare opportunity to join our leadership team! Now hiring an experienced executive chef.  Ideal candidates will be fun, kind, dependable, flexible, detail-oriented, creative, collaborative, and enjoy cooking in a team-based inclusive work environment and take pride in creating consistently delicious, craveable food!

 SET The Bar is a local sports bar and restaurant with a unique mission: to support and elevate women’s sports. In the simplest sense SET will serve high quality food and drinks and show women’s sports, but that is just the foundation. What you bring:

  • Experience and passion for executing consistently stellar food in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, sports-service experience a plus
  • A collaborative, respectful, kind work style and excellent communication skills
  • Strong skills in brunch, lunch, and dinner execution, including across stations and roles; everyone on our kitchen team (and some of our FOH) works across each role 
  • Creative and passionate about developing new, seasonal recipes with team
  • Desire to learn, grow, and lead with goals for growth 
  • Attentive to detail and management of consistent team production of recipes, portions, and plating styles
  • Experience managing inventory, pars, and ordering as well as prep lists and event planning
  • Skilled at developing and implementing processes that create a cohesive, clean, well-organized, and compliant kitchen
  • Responsible for hiring, leading, and mentoring team members. Oversee kitchen staff and ensure food quality.  Must be able to able to multitask during a shift all while leading a crew and completing tasks issued by the General Manager.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a high-paced kitchen, on-the-line environments with increasing levels of responsibility.  Minimum of 3 years as a salaried chef/kitchen management required.  Culinary School education is preferred.  Must be able to give written and verbal instruction to all crew members.  
  • Must have ability to read, write and have a general computer skill set (Microsoft Office Comprehension) with experience using software and tools for smart kitchen management
  • Weekend and evening availability required
  • Bilingual Spanish-English skills a plus
  • Must be able to work in high temperature work environments for 10-12 hours a day.   This position will require standing, bending, lifting, kneeling and walking the entire workday.  Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds infrequently.  Must be able to handle the demands of a fast paced and sometimes demanding work atmosphere.  
  • Must have extensive knowledge of cooking hot and cold foods
  • Required to assign and complete prep lists as well as assign deep cleaning projects.  Must understand the importance of handling food and kitchen wares in a clean and safe fashion.  Must always uphold food and sanitation standards.  Must be Serve Safe Certified or willing to complete the Serve Safe course paid for by FSRG.  
  • Maintains a positive and safe work environment and is teamwork oriented.  
  • Create a motivating kitchen culture, develop team members and counsel them in calm and collective matter all while keeping the work environment positive and upbeat.

Tasks and Responsibilities:  

  • Hire & train staff
  • Expedite orders
  • Manage kitchen operations
  • Collaborate with leadership team
  • Maintain a clean workspace at all times (clean as you go mentality)
  • Work at a fast and efficient pace. The Executive chef is a “working chef”
  • Practice thorough and often handwashing while ensuring staff is practicing handwashing as well
  • Ability to read and follow recipes as well as follow up with prep and line cooks food preparation
  • Ensure that all equipment being used for food preparation is cleaned and sanitized
  • Has a thorough knowledge of food cost, labor cost and inventory functions
  • Chemical safety comprehension
  • Ensure that all food and cleaning projects are up to FSRG standards
  • Maintains a clean appearance and is to be in uniform for every shift
  • Abides by all brand standards and company policies and procedures
  • Wide variety of food cooking and preparation methods
  • Must know, understand, and abide by all HACCP plans established by FSRG
  • Approachable to other FOH and BOH staff members
  • Opening and closing procedures for all line stations
  • Completes daily line check and temperature checks (HACCP Plan)
  • Completes daily paperwork (invoices and inventory like paperwork)
  • Scheduling entire kitchen staff effectively and efficiently 
  • Food Ordering and Inventory upkeep
  • Basic guest service skills and speaking skills
  • Extensive problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to adapt to new systems

  • Competitive base salary of $60,000 – $70,000 per year based on experience plus equity
